We accept payments in US Dollars, Pound Sterling and Euros, if you wish to pay with another currency Paypal will automatically convert your payment free of charge.

• All items purchased through the site will be sent via Royal Mail Airmail or 1st class post.
• Most items ship same day if ordered by 11:00am (excluding weekends and bank holidays)

These shipping times are provided for us by the postal service, although over 90% of our shipped items arrive in the timescales shown above occasionally some items do take longer. We cannot be responsible for delays in delivery due to conditions outside of our control.

Returns

We test and guarantee all of the items we ship out and believe them to be of the highest quality, if you do receive an item which does not work, is damaged or incorrect then we will happily refund or replace any item within 28 days. Returns for non faulty items may be subject to a restocking fee to include the original postage costs.

Installation of the new crossfader is simple and fully explained in our video tutorial which you can see below.

Please note only a new crossfader is included not the slider control knob, you can easily reuse the old one and if requested we will be happy to start stocking the control knobs in the future.

DJ Qbert is a multiple DMC world DJ champion and a childhood friend and colleague of Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys fame, they have been revolutionary in the world of DJ’ing and scratching and to sign Qbert to the DJ Hero franchise would be a big draw for DJ Hero 2.

Activision are now said to be working with at least one UK developer on DJ Hero 2 which is rumoured to be coming out sometime in 2010, and if the Guitar Hero series is anything to go by it will not be long until we see more in the pipeline. The message boards around the internet have given this news a mixed reaction, on the one hand people would like to see  development continue on DJ Hero 1 with more DLC, but on the other hand now you have brought your DJ Hero turntable would you not like to see more games for you to play on it?

One thing we would like to see most in DJ Hero 2 is the ability to play live drums over the DJ tracks, what you would you like to see most in the new game?

When it comes to dressing your decks up a bit you have got to have a look at UniqueSkins.com, they are the market leaders in custom vinyl skins and can create any design your mind can imagine! This is how it works:

Step 1

Head over to UniqueSkins and select the device you want to create a skin for (oh yes! not just DJ Hero skins but Guitar Hero, iphones, games consoles, Blackberrys, laptops – they could probably even do one for your dog if you send them the sizes!)

Step 2

Using the simple online software to can combine any number of images, text, photos and designs both from their extensive library and even images you have on your own computer by simply uploading them.

Step 3

Play about with your design until you are happy with it then click add to cart, fill in your details, pay the nice people, then wait a couple of days and blam! Awesome looking vinyl skin!

If you have tried a vinyl skin before but not been too happy with the results then you need to check out what these guys are doing now. They use the latest tech with the best materials to provide you with a skin that should last forever on your decks (or anything else for that matter), application is simple and bubbles under the skin are a thing of the past thanks to some very clever vinyl from 3M which includes small air channels to make sure even the smallest bubbles are driven out when putting the skin on. For $15 you will not find a better Christmas present for someone or better still just for yourself!

You should also have a look at our post on our original DJ Hero vinyl mod, while it looked like a dogs dinner the idea of putting something under the vinyl before applying it does work well, just position something (like another piece of vinyl) directly above and below the center point of the crossfader and you will then be able to feel where the crossfader is without having to look at it. This is invaluable for novice players and helps them really get into the game as well as making you decks more like the real deal!

We have been testing possible replacement / upgrade crossfaders and now we have got one we are happy with, they will be in stock in the next few days and advertised on this website hopefully by the end of the week so check back soon and don’t forget if you have any problems with your decks just post a comment here or in our DJ Hero Repair Forums and we will do our best to sort it out for you!

There has been a lot of discussion about this on the Internet and even some people suggesting fixes involving jamming this here or that there to stop the problem. Taking a slightly more scientific approach we think we may be close to finding out once and for all what causes this problem but we need more help from you – gamers of the world – to find out if we are right.

What we need is as many people as possible to head over to the forum thread ‘buttons press themselves when I spin the turntable’, have a look what it says and post your own results. Once we have gathered a bit more information we may feel confident enough to post the definitive reason for what is causing this problem and what users can do about it.

Thoughts?

The other thing we thought could be improved was the surface of the turntable, it seemed very slippy and we thought this made scratching harder than it needed to be (yeah I know if we were better Djs we wouldn’t need any of this but we are uncoordinated idiots who can barely press coloured button in the right order so every little helps eh!)

With this in mind we have performed our first test modification on the turntable, adding a black (boring colour but will do for the prototype!) vinyl coating to the surface of the turntable and also creating a surround for the crossfader which includes the raised bit at the center point.

We have done this mod as a bit of a trial run, we wanted to see what people thought of the playability of the game with these changes.

First Impressions

Lets look at the crossfader area first, the vinyl covering does not interfere with your ability to play the game and with the addition of the raised sections it does make it easier to find the middle point if you loose it, this is most useful when your euphoria is coming to an end and you need to be ready to start crossfading for yourself once more. Rather than having to take your eyes off the screen to confirm that you are in the middle of the crossfader you can now feel both the ‘click’ of the crossfader as it returns to its center point but also you can use your fingers to find out where that center point is before you move the fader back.

We have found this to be really useful and people playing the game for the first time appreciate it the most, experienced players will probably not benefit too much from this, but its addition will not make the game any harder either.

The turntable covering was designed to give more grip on the surface of the deck while playing, this is supposed to help while scratching and when using rewind, and for the most part it does very well! It feel great having a more tactile surface to rest your hand on while mixing and it does stop the turntable ‘getting away’ from you at the end of a long section of scratches. the only slight worry is how sweaty your hands will have the vinyl surface if you are playing it for hours on end. We have not found it a  problem but we are testing in the middle of a British winter, someone in Australia in the summer may have a different opinion!

Verdict

We like this first attempt at this mod and will be keeping it on for the time being. It deserves a long term test to find out what type of coating would be best, how sweaty the turntable gets, if the vinyl starts to peel and gets annoying, all these things need to be investigated. In short though, this does improve the easy of playing DJ Hero for novices, experts will as always find their own way around any problems – that is what makes them experts!

Oh the other thing is – how cool would this look with some custom graphics on the vinyl? You could have anything!
